Dangina's Designs Chipboard Album

Hello There Everyone!
I have another project to share with you for Creating With Details and I hope you like it. I was sent a chipboard album with my DT package and just knew I wanted to add alot of bright colors to it. I played with Gesso and Glass Beads and more chipboard pieces from Kaisercraft. The paper Flowers are my favorite embellishments. They are the perfect addition to any page.
I used a few things from my home stash like the DP and the prima embellishments. Not that this album needed much help. It is gorgeous all on it's own. I used the bling row to give it some dimension as well as the Kaisercraft chipboard. I will be adding some photos and mats to personalize it this evening. I do hope you enjoyed my project. Thanks for stopping in!
Tons Of Hugs, Dangina

Shabby My Lady Paper Mache Mannequin

I am totally loving this next project, because its vintage and shabby chic! I brought some paper mache mannequin for our online store a while back and as I was moving things around, I took one look and instantly I knew what I wanted to create.

The most difficult part of when I have something I want to create on my mind is finding the things to complete the project.  For this particular project I had to track down some old books along with old music sheets.  I went to our nearest library, which is where I go to find old books, however, I did not find anything old that I could reuse for the purpose of creating my project.  So, off I went to the Goodwill, and there they were the two things I needed to created my project.

I was so lucky to actually find some old music books, so I grabbed what I could and off I was distressing the music sheets in coffee.  Since I wanted to really give it a good distressed look I crumbled the sheets and let them sit in coffee for several hours.  After several hours soaking in coffee they were ready to be ironed dried.  I ironed dried the sheets and now I was ready for part 2 of my Shabby My Lady Paper Mache Mannequin.

Now Part 2 was the easy part, because I just applied some Gesso directly to the paper mache and let it dry for about 1hrs.  Actually while that dried up I was at work!  Once completely dried I painted the base of my Paper Mache Mannequin with black acrylic paint.  I then started Mod Podging the music sheets onto the upper and lower part of the body.  I used a lot of Mod Podge just to ensure that they stuck well to the Paper Mache Mannequin.

Once that all dried up I started to fan out some torn out pieces of the old book that I picked up at the Goodwill.  I applied the old torn out pieces all around the lower part of the body to create the skirt.  After finishing up on the skirt, I then applied my trim and lace that we carry on our online store Creating With Details.

Mixed Media Layout

Hey There Friends!
Here I am to share with you a little something sweet I just finished making for Creating With Details Blog. My Baby In Blue is a layout for Sade. She did a photo shoot with me as her photographer a few years back and I love her innocent little face. How I wish she were still so tiny. Now she stands 5 feet 6 inches, way taller than me, but still as beautiful as ever.

I was going for the shabby chic look but, don't know if it really qualifies, lol. What do you think? I did use some lace from my stash and a Martha Punch under the image and a doily behind the image. I used a  couple of Nestabord pieces after applying gesso and spraying it with a bit of Glitz Shot - Gecko Green. I absolutely love the shimmer in these sprays!

I actually used Lindy's Stamp Gang Glitz Shot Gecko Green on most of this layout. I first added the powder to a bit of gesso and layered it over my page. I then went over it a little with white gesso to soften the green. I added a bit of the Gecko Green powder to a mini mister and for a little shimmer. The other sprays used are Vintage Cole Prima Bloom Spray and  Chartreuse Heidi Swapp.
I also wanted to point out the metal pieces on the left side of my page. One in the upper coner on the lace and the other along the left border on the lace. I went over them with gesso and mist as well as the flourish in the center of my page.
Well that's it for today. Happy Crafting till Next time!

Treasured Memories Mixed Media Collage

As many of you know September is a very hard month for me.  I have learned throughout the years that the best way to remember my mom on her birthday is to create something that reminds me of who she was.

My mom was a great person and she had some unique qualities.  I loved her smile and I loved how she had such a passion for collecting vintage and unique things.  She loved thrift shopping, and she loved working in her garden.  When I think of all these wonderful things, I try to collect bits and pieces that I can put together in order to remember her and cherish all those wonderful memories.

She loved cameos, flowers, buttons (funny thing is that she would go around collecting buttons for me, because she knew how much I loved altering things), she loved the colors; beige, turquoise, gold, black, burgundy, and dollies wow did she love dollies.

So, when I think about all these things I remember who she was especially whenever she was let loose at a flea market.

Growing up I thought she collected way too much junk, and I don't mean it in a bad way because my mom was like me a clean freak and things had to be clean.  So, when I say she collected way too much junk I say it because I hated dusting all her flea market finds.

So, for this project in honor of my Beloved and NEVER Forgotten mom I created this Treasured Memories Mixed Media Collage.

She was a fanatic of flowers and so I took flowers for my online store Creating With Details and distressed them up with some gesso and Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabio Sprays to give it a more vintage distress look.

It's amazing what a few metal embellishments can also do to a mixed media project.

Materials Used:

Metal Keys
**Metal Cameo
**Metal Butterflies
Cheese Cloth
It does take a little work to create this piece but the end results are totally worth it.  I don't have many pictures of my mom so I try to preserve the ones I do have of her.  This one is one that was sent to me by my oldest brother via a text, so I printed it out and sealed it with a sealer such as Mod Podge, since I was working with inks, sprays, and other mediums I didn't want to ruin the image, so by sealing the image I was able to work around it much easier.
I hope you enjoyed this Treasured Memories Mixed Media Collage, I can't wait to see what you create.
**NOTE:  The Metal Cameo & Metal Butterflies are available but not listed on our website, if you are interested in the prices please send us an email.

Altered Cross Frame

I love altering things, and for this week I created a lovely Cross Frame with some pieces of misc. items that I had laying around in my craft room.

This project if very easy to make and quick too, I was surprised on how fast I completed this project and used very little efforts.  The inspirations came from a piece of art I saw at a show recently and I loved the idea so much I just had to try it out but throw in my altering techniques to make it a more unique piece.

I started out with a frame that I picked up about a year ago in a garage sale.  I loved the frame and I thought for the price I just had to add to my collection of misc. craft junk.  Neat less to say I found the perfect project for it.

Now I did a Faber Castell Gelato technique to give it that background drip look on the canvas piece.  I then painted the frame with some paint and rubbed some Inka Gold Copper on the details of the frame, which really made the frame pop out more.

Here is what I came up with, and I really hope you like what you see, because it was fun, it was easy, and it looks like its worth a lot more than what I invested in the whole thing.

The metal embellishments can be from on the Creating With Detail store.  I used some of my metal filigree and some other pieces I have laying around to create this gorgeous Cross.

Materials Use:

Old picture frame
Metal Embellishments
Inka Gold - Copper (Available not posted on website ask for price)
Faber Castell Gelatos
Mist Water Bottle
Heat Glue

Well thank you for visitng and I hope you liked my project for today.
